18 x 48 Dallaire

Does anyone else have a 18 x 48 Dallaire. I am thinking of getting one and was wondering what the pro's and con's are.

How many taps are you planning on in the future and is it a new or used evaporator??

That evaporator may boil off 15 gph tops probably. Might want to look at a 2x6 as it would evaporate at least double the gph that the 18x48 would and give you a lot more room to expand.

I just bought a Waterloo Small 19 x 36 this morning. We are going to start off small just to see if we have enough taps and how our systems will work. If everything works good we intend to probably get a 2 x 6.

Thats something good to break you into the maple and you shouldn't have much difficulty reselling it for close to what you paid for it.

If you decide to upgrade in the future, spring is the best time to pick up a 2x6 or larger when others are looking to upgrade.
