Happy pre-season everyone

Was going to order an internal probe-style thermometer and it is on backorder. Until it comes in, do the magnetic ones work for double wall pipe? If so, is my temperature goal the same? If no, any suggestions on thermometers to use?

Are you talking about magnetic surface thermometers? They would not give a useful reading on double walled pipe. They really aren't useful at all. They react too slowly to be helpful.

Amazon has thermometers such as this one:

The magnetic ones just fall off at some point the magnet becomes weak with high temperatures. I purchased this one http://https://www.amazon.com/Condar-FlueGard-Flue-Thermometer-Probe/dp/B001D1J7YA/ref=pd_sbs_6/130-6239439-9715418?pd_rd_w=gZ7rB&pf_rd_p=0a3ad226-8a77-4898-9a99-63ffeb1aef90&pf_rd_r=0YAYE8NQ6C9APMSYNQDE&pd_rd_r=60d53f11-f3f0-476d-95ad-6fa14d9df502&pd_rd_wg=ivqV1&pd_rd_i=B001D1J7YA&psc=1 used it two years already and it works good. Mounts with a bracket that came with it. Jay

Amber instrument has stack temp probes. I got mine a month or so ago. K-type.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't really think the magnetic one would be any good.
