Shurflo 2088 Vs Shurflo 4008

I am considering buying a pump to transfer sap from a 55 gallon drum into 5 gallon pails, or perhaps, pump 200’ on the same elevation to another 55 gallon drum.

I have read many posts and the Shurflo gets mentioned a lot and in particular the Shurflo 4008.

On Amazon the Shurflo 2088 is less expensive (and is their best seller) and can pump more fluid in a minute than the 4008.

Is the Shurflo 2088 a good choice to buy, or are there must features in the 4008 that make it a must buy?

AC powered or DC? The 4008 pump tends to be the best value for 12 volt pumps but it seems like the 2088 pump is a better value for AC. The 2088 is an older 3-chamber diaphragm design while the 4008 is a newer 4-chamber design. Either one should work perfectly fine. I've been using an AC 4008 pump for several years for sap transfer. If you use it for transferring sap, it is a good idea to have a way to drain the lines after transferring, so sap doesn't spoil in the sun, or freeze and possibly burst a line at night. The flow rate may be less than advertised if pumping through a long line.

The one I was looking at was a 12v, about $20 cheaper than the 12v 4008.
