I just bought a brand new 12x18 lapierre releaser... it opens and dumps fine but the top slide won’t close after it’s finished dumping... any help would be great...

They are both single mechanical and there brand new so it’s not sugar build up or freezing temps...

What is your vacuum pressure at the releaser?

ensure that your vac line to the slide is sitting ‘square in’ in the slide elbow, ive noticed sometimes an unsquare fit up creates a binding or full slide, also perhaps you could back off the screw asserting pressure to the slide plate
hope that helps

Make sure the slide is lubricated. Easy to do and helps. It should handle 21-23" no problem.

Also, look at the tubing connecting the mechanisms for any liquid in them. Even a small about can stop the releaser from working.
I had about a 1" column of liquid in one line, and I had the same problem.

Get rid of the slide releaser and get a regular Lapiere releaser. I had one of the Bernard slide releasers and it was nothing but trouble

I have a CDL and it sounds like a problem I have occasionally. My solution is cooking spray squirted in the slide release. Seems to do the trick. Also, make sure your setup is level so the float doesn't get hung up.

I have a double vertical style and i had to do several things to get mine going. first was lubricate the slide plates and the O ring where the vacuum line connects. I also had to build a support for the vacuum line so their was no binding force exerted by the line pulling or drooping. i had to re lubricate half way through the season, and adjust the line support with temperature changes. but i only found it stuck once and that was because my vacuum had dropped because of pump failure. The lube I use is Molykote 111, from amazon, but the same as you can buy from sugar suppliers.
