I decided this latestcold snap was a good time to replace my old carlin 701 with a new old stock one I purchased last year.

The wiring is different with the new one having an additional relay and contactor.

I connected the wht from the controller to wht (neutral) from power in feed.
I connected the blk from the controller to blk from power in feed.
I connected ground to the controller box.

I connected the wires marked motor to the motor. Wht to wht blk to blk.

I can hear the electrodes sparking. After a while I hear the contactor close. Than nothing. Upon inspection the wht wire that was marked motor comes from the contactor but has no wire on opposite side of contactor. Why you would break the neutral with the contactor makes no sense to me so I connected the motor neutral to other neutrals. Still nothing.

No power going to the violet which is the oil valve and none to motor.

Why is the blk wire from the relay feeding power to the motor. I think it should be the orange wire feeding power from the contactor to the contactor to the motor. What is the orange wire currently feeding power to.

I would like to correct this but I can always go back to my old controller and hook it up without the relay and contactor.

Please enlighten me!
Rick

We just installed two new ones a few weeks back. Here is a picture

Brian Thanks for the picture

Any chance you can take one of the right side of the contactor and angled up to be able to follow the wires below and on the right side.

Thanks Rick

I had to move the short blk jumper wire that was going from the relay to the lower left contactor connector up to beside my orange wire. (Which in Brian's picture is an orange jumper wire)

I than needed to bring blk from the controller junction box to the left lower contactor connection. Resulting in the motor getting power.

Not sure why Brian has a five wire relay as mine is only 4. The two side by side (wht/red) energize the relay which than connects the jumper wire to the violet opening the oil valve.

My motor wire goes into the controller junction box unlike Brian's that goes into the contactor box. I like Brian's and may relocate mine at a later date.

Thanks again Brian
