I've read soft water is ideal if permeate isn't available, and clorinated water is ok if you let it sit for a few days in the sun. I'm thinking water that's treated with salt might not be ideal as it may leave a salty taste, is that correct?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Salt is sodium chloride so not sure that would do any good.Run water and let it sit for a few days is what I do and seems to work

I use something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Kohree-Certified-Accessories-Gardening-Motorhome-2/dp/B0892YBMW4/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=rv+water+filter&qid=1615126165&s=automotive&sr=1-10
That's just the first one that came up for me. Shop around to get something that reduces as much chlorine, etc. as possible. Be sure to use a hose meant for potable water - NOT a garden hose. Those are sold with RV stuff as well.
