Hey masonry, tapping tomorrow in my parts. Next week is looking favorable around here, hoping for a few good runs. Wish I had tubing to run or maintain leading up to tapping, staring at them doesn't give me a sense of accomplishment. Maybe next year. Best of luck getting the rest of your lines up.

It will be the first week in march for me. New spouts are on. About 300 this year. Two foot of snow in the woods with 2 inch breakable crust. Snow shoe or not its tough going.

yeah we haven't had that much down here in a few years. especially with crust on top that a rough walk through the woods.

we have 6-12 inches of snow in the woods. not too bad to get around.

MapleCamp, I been meaning to get up your way and check out the CDL store up there in Lancaster.

well, got a lot done yesterday. 38 more taps to replace and a ton of washing to do. even got the wife to help!

Going out to tap today. Looks like it might run some middle of this week if it thaws out enough. Tough walking with 24” of snow with a 1-1/2-2” crust then another 5” of fluffy snow on top of that.

tapping yesterday saw maybe 2 glistening holes even in the warm sun with most southern exposure. teens sat night, 12 degrees when I woke up this morning. supposed be 37 degrees here today. but I don't think we are gonna see much sap its gonna take about 2-3 days of 40's and full sun to get the "snow ring" at the base of the tree and things defrosted. but as long as the sap is flowing a little I can chase leaks and get tubing fixes done before the tsunami hits!!!

Tapped in all my lines over the last two days (100). Warm up coming this week. Will probably hang my buckets mid-week.

Beginning to get equipment ready to tap this week. I plan to tap Tues/Wednesday and hopefully get a little sap. The weather is looking favorable in southern NH later this week and next.

Finally completed my shack build yesterday. Got the stove pipe through the roof and was able to make my vent flap fully functional with some garage door hinges. I've got about 30 taps in with at least another 30 to go. No sap coming yet and it's snowing and 25 here today.22000

Took my annual trip to Bascom's on Friday to stock up on everything for the season. Started cleaning up the sugarhouse this past weekend. I really need to stop using it as storage in the off season, it's always a pain moving everything out in February. Planning to start tapping this Friday and through the weekend. Usually tap around 260 or so but got access to some more trees nearby so i will be aiming for 400-450 taps this season. I've gotta do something to help feed this CDL 250 RO i just got.

Weather is starting to turn for us and the season is pretty much here for most of us NH folk. Wishing you all a sweet season.

Tapping tomorrow in Hudson. Tubing this year for about 75 percent of my taps. Will be about 52 taps and all Sugar Maples this year. Looks like the weather is finally on the move for us. Plenty of snow even here in the south.

Way to short of a season for me, and had less than impressive sap flow from my reds. Managed to make 15 gals of finished syrup after boiling down around 830 gal between 12 collections usual average right around 55:1 here. Didn't even get to use my new RO which is a little depressing. Better luck next year.

sorry to hear that Nhshaun. it was a very slow start-up here too but managed to make 40ish. bottling today. boiled 2535 gallons of sap. normally 4000+gallons. my last 2 runs were 400 gallons each which helped to save my season.

I had a lot of upgrades this season after dumping around 8k into the sugaring operation. I will be adding some surflo pumps next season because my red maples just don't run great on their own. Glad you made that much syrup, those double 400 gal runs must have been nice! My biggest run was only around 120 gal.

I tell people I'm that I lose 50$ every time I sell a gallon or I'm selling 100$ gallons for 50$. Added a new raised flue pan and accessories. 4500 invested this year myself. most of my taps are reds and 75 running on a pump, sure helps get them started. I use 3/16 so a hybrid system

Finished up with 38 gals. on 157 taps. 9 G, 18 A and 11 Dark.
Short season, but better than last year. Everything cleaned up and lines are soaking in sanitizer. Already dreaming of next year.
Happy Summer !!
