Is there an easy way to put on DS saddles?

My wife usually has the bucket of saddles ready to put on,with the clamps undone,wonder if this is maybe our problem that the memory of the metal has sprung a little? Seems to sometimes be a challenge to get the gear to engage,works better with the drill than a hand driver,but can also ruin the clamp with the drill if not careful

We use these with great success, an impact driver is bust for tightening the clamps, we -reassemble them before we go out, don’t bend them open just spring them over the pipe then grab the plastic and slide it into the hole,
