I had read somewhere that the 1/2" male threads on the Shurflo pump inlet and outlet have a different thread type than the normal npt or whatever it is called. Looking at the threads on my new pump, they appear to be the same as my pvc fittings. Can someone confirm if they are the same or a special type of thread? Thanks

i just got a 4008 pump and the threads are not NPT. I just ordered the hose barb adapters

Thanks I ordered the swivel adapters with barbed ends but when I attempted to screw on a pvc fitting it seemed to go on smoothly thats why I asked if maybe they were normal threads. Also, in some videos I watched it looks like alot of the setups have gray mainline fittings screwed directly to the Shurflo without an adapter.

I'm not sure, but some pumps are available in options for the threads. I don't know if Shurflo is one who does that.

All mine are NPT, but there are a bunch of non-Shurflo Shurflo pumps. That is they will come up in a Shurflo search, but the label is a different company.

Shurflo makes a hand tighten fitting which is the best although they are overpriced. Swivel fittings and of course the strainers for inlet side work too. I have used a 1/2" PVC coupler on the Shurflo pumps or strainers which works OK. I have not had good luck with stainless or any metallic couplers or fittings on the pump or strainer, they want to strip.
