Had a rush at end of last season and did not store my membranes in permeate or solution, just dry...my bad I know. I had done a thorough soap and acid wash and rinse at the end of the season then put them in their storage vessels. Opened them the other day and it smelled like dirty old socks. If I use them this season, I'll run 500gal of sap through them to start the season, do an acid wash and rinse; will they be ok? Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure if they can be salvaged, personally I'd buy a new membrane and be sure you never do that again.

If the membrane dried out it can not be saved. The TFC membranes have to stay moist (ideally saturated) after they are put into service.
MES or Maple Expert Solutions in Henniker, NH has new membranes quite reasonably priced if you decide to buy new ones.

After the season, do a full soap wash, an acid wash and complete rinse, then use preservative as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. With proper care membranes will normally last 8 years or more.
