I have a question about the line viper tool, I know that they make 2 different sizes, what I would like to know is, can I use the 5/16" model with 3/16 tubing, if i was to slide a piece of slit 5/16" tubing over the 3/16" line?
I am very interested in the tool, but i do use 5/16" and 3/16" tubing, and i cannot justify spending $230.00 on 2 tools.
thanks.

It may work, but it really doesn't look like the other line tools. If you are really set on getting a line viper, I would get the one you think you would be using the most.

I have the 3/16 and use it to make up my 5/16 drops. It may scrape up the outside of the 5/16 sometimes but not enough for a problem. Add a rope so you can hang it around your neck.

When I was in the Army we used LBE's, Load Bearing Equipment, It is basically a set of suspenders that attach to your tool belt. You can attach all sorts of things to them but I like them because my tool belt was always falling or coming loose. So I put my viper in the pouch that I keep my T's in and my cutting tool on the right. It works well for me. I have used my 5/16 viper on 3/16 as well. It might slip a little but if you get the tubing lined up well it will work. One thing for sure the line Viper will develop your grip.

They take a little getting used to but work quite well. Mine is the 5/16 version and I have no problems inserting 3/16 lines into fittings. And yes your grip will improve if you get one.
