Syrup pan question

How many channel's, or section's, are there in a syrup pan that is 2.5 feet wide?

Do they vary or are they a standard number of compartment's? If they do vary, what number of section's is better? Four section's, five, six...??

our Grimm 2.5 wide syrup pan has 3 dividers in it..for a total of four sections...

but I;m sure there are other variations...

My 30" wide syrup pan has 4 sections. I know when I ordered a replacement pan Leader asked if I wanted 2 or 4 so I think it could go either way. I have no opinion on which is better as I have only ever boiled on the 4 section.
