We bottled 10 gallons of bourbon barrel aged syrup this weekend and tried out our new 9" CDL vacuum filter. Heated up the syrup in 2.5 gallon batches and it went right through the filter as fast as we could pour it. The syrup was filtered already before the 4 months of aging so that obviously helped considerably but I plan to ditch the cone filters and never look back. It was so nice to be able to filter and immediately bottle without reheating or dealing with the messy cones.

We did end up with a little bit of syrup in the bottom of the shop vac even though we were careful not to over fill it, but we had the valve all the way open. I will try just opening it enough to get vacuum next time.

I had read as many reviews as I could before we purchased it including some of the problems but for now am completely happy with how it worked!
