Hey everyone, I have a question about storing syrup in a wooden keg. My brother is getting married this fall and he and his soon to be wife love the maple syrup we send back with them when they come home to visit. I would like to get them one of those small one gallon personalized wooden kegs you can get online and then cure it and fill it with maple syrup for him. My question is whether or not you think the maple syrup will keep okay in the keg? It is sealed but it likely would not be refrigerated after it was opened. I could go with a smaller keg somewhere in the neighborhood of a 2qt so that it could be rinsed more often. I really don't know what I wanted to put this out there in case somebody has tried this and has something to say about it. Thanks all I hope you're doing well during these crazy times we are living in!

I'm afraid if it would not be refrigerated it would mold in a wooden keg just like it does in a glass or plastic after it's opened.
