Is the citric acid the maple companies sell anything special? Is there a reason why I can't get it from say Amazon? Link below for one I found that's food grade.

Thanks

It will likely work but you may need to test the PH once blended to know how much to use.

I have a similar question I'll tag on here: Which soap/preservatives do people use for an XLE membrane? I'm out and need to pick up some.

I get mine on amazon. Works fine. Just have to test pH.

Thanks William. I'll get a bag of that.

The CDL acid got down to about a pH of 2.5 after adding about a pound of acid. Is it about the same amount with the Milliard acid?

My Machine has a rather large wash tank, I have often wondered if this large volume is really necessary when doing things like acid washes, the machine isn't running with the acid wash, so I guess I dont see why you couldn't just fill your wash tank with enough permeate to circulate and then add your acid to the desired P.H. is there really a need to have an extra 20 gallons of permeate and Acid that not doing anything? Seems like a waste.

You don't need to completely fill your wash tank. I put 10 gallons in mine, add the acid and check the ph after it has circulated for 10 minutes or so. I add more acid if needed and let it circulate for 10 minutes and recheck until I get down to ph 2. When it's at ph 2 I run the RO long enough to be sure that the membranes are at ph 2 and shut the machine off. I let it sit for 24 hours and then rinse and soap wash.
