I can’t remember in which post I saw it but someone was looking for pictures of a masonry arch.
A friend of mine built this a few years back and has great time making syrup on it.

That might be the best looking masonry arch I have seen. Whet kind of pans do you use?

Folks,
I have this picture of the arch builder and sugarmaker taken this spring. Keith T designed and built the brick arch around the door frame he got from Jim (Father & son) several years ago. It is a nice well built arch. He has noted that it is a lot of work to keep it repaired.

Keith is going to be 89 this summer! He has 400 taps. The pans are 2.5 wide by 7 feet long. He can boil about 50 gallons per hour. He and his family are one of the 19 sugarhouses on our annual Taste and Tour.

What are the two “windows “ in the side? Are there blowers in there,or a spot to warm up bottles, etc?

The arches on each side were added somewhere along the line. Keith does have a AUF blower on a rheostat at the back of the firebox. I think they are mainly for looks. Its a dandy arch! They make good syrup on it too! His wood pile is a thing of beauty also.

Chris
