I need a little help on what the legal aspects are of selling maple syrup. Last year was the first time i ever made it, and i made just a few gallons for my family and myself. Now im hooked and cant wait to start again this year. I have my 2x6 now and im sure with the 200 plus taps i plan on having i will make significantly more syrup by seasons end. Besides the right syrup density what are the legalities and processes of selling this stuff. Do i need some kind of permit or do i have to have some sort of business name etc? I am located in Vermont so anyone with info on how to sell this stuff in VT would be a big help, especially when maple season is just around the corner.

Kyle, You can also go to one of the maple schools this January and learn a lot too. There will be topics that cover many aspects of the business/hobby.
