First year running an RO. We have A Deere Run 125 gas powered RO. Saturday we are going to be cooking down 250 gallons. The temperature Saturday morning is supposed to be 5 above and maybe climb to 25 by the end of the day. Will I be able to run the RO in those temps or should we just go old school?

I have run my Deer Run in below freezing temperatures but never that low. The only problem that I had was keeping the sap from freezing before it went into the RO and you MUST get the membrane in the warm as soon as possible after cleaning. Do not let it freeze.

How are you keeping your sap from becoming a block of ice if you haven't concentrated it yet? Maybe concentrate it now to lower the saps freezing point but I don't think concentrate will be liquid at 5 degrees.

I think the coldest I ever ran my Deer Run 250 was in the low teens back when it had to be used outside because of the gas engine, no issues. My Deer Run now has been converted to electric and stays inside.
