Do any of you use those quick disconnect fittings for 5/16th lateral tubing? I've used a few, and would like to add more as my lines cross alot of our woods roads and 4-wheeler trails. Do they connect well enough to hold the natural vacuum?

i use the Quick disconncts on all of our roads and trails and they work great infact wwe had a tree fall on one of the 5\16 lines and the line came out of the tee before the Quick disconnct broke

I don't like them but I have a lot of tension on my lines and some long stretches where I was using them.

They are no good if you have alot of tension on them, they WILL pull apart.

But other than a weak-point in the line, do they work well? Now that I'm starting to understand the whole natural-vacuum thing, I want to make sure all the fittings are tight.

They seem to work good as long as there is not a lot of tension. I had some over trails and then eliminated them. What I did was wrap them 2 or 3 times with black electrical tape and then if I wanted to disconnect them, I just unroll the tape.

To hold your quick connect fittings together when they have a lot of tension on them, use your wire ties. The fittings have wings on the sides of each piece. take your short wire tie and go around the wings and tighten with your wire tool. you can make it as tight as you would like. when you want to take it down just snip the wire and disconnect. Simple!

Dave,
Great idea and it would work now that I think about it.

Brandon,
I put one on each side. Then went around the two for good measure!

Great idea, Dave! I just got back from Sprauge's for more tubing and connections, and picked up some more quick disconnects also. Sure enough they have the little tabs on them like you said.

Beth,
I hope they work for you. I think they can be very handy if you need to remove your lines from time to time.
