Wondering if it would be ok to put hot finished syrup
In a 5 gallon food grade made in new USA plastic bucket
For a day or two until I transfer it to my bottler. Would it take on a
Plastic taste going in hot !!! Thanks in advance

How hot? I'd feel fine pouring 150 degree syrup in there but I probably wouldn't pour 219 degree syrup directly into plastic.

This is what we do. Draw off into a stainless pail. It cools quite a bit before it gets stored in food grade plastic pails until bottling.

Don't people hot pack the blue 5 gal jugs?

Second this. It will cool plenty before filling the bucket, unless you're doing 5 gallon draws. I use food grade buckets from Lowes.

I poured from the evap right into a 5 gal. bucket, no problems, but they were small draws.

Warning........Warning.........
Do not and I repeat do not use your knee to seal the lid. The hot syrup makes the bucket soft and it will collapse, lots of swearing will ensue. The dog was very happy though.

I also draw off through a filter and into 4 and 5-gallon buckets. The hottest syrup I've ever gotten in the bucket is 140 deg.

My supplier sells 3 1/2 and 5 gallon pails for packing finished syrup. I pack hot syrup into them, and have not had any issue of them picking up off-flavors.
The pail does get quite soft though, so after filling I don't move them until they cool.
