Fire pit shifting problem

Anybody else have a cinderblock evaporator that shifts back and forth due to the ground freezing and thawing? Ive been fighting with constantly having to shift my bricks and redo stuff to try and make it as air tight as possible but it seems to be a losing battle. How big of a deal will it be when it comes time to burn if i have some small openings? Any ideas of something to fill in between the cinderblocks to make them level?

Although it doesn't help you this year, a concrete slab under the arch is a perfect cure for that problem. I put my block arch on a slab that was already in my back yard and it was very stable. Now that I have a new arch, that slab is its home for the maple season. When the season ends the evaporator will go into the garage.
