I'd like to acquire a reliable digital pH meter to measure the flushing solutions for RO membranes. The RO soap is basically food grade sodium hydroxide (lye), but an accurate meter to confirm the correct pH solution for the membrane would be nice... There are a ton of $12-20 chinese digital pH meters on Amazon and ebay, but the reviews are actually for a mishmash of products that the sellers are peddling, not just for the pH meter.

Can anyone suggest a reliable product that they are using?

Thanks!

The best pH indicator is fairly foolproof, very inexpensive, requires no batteries, is instantly readable, and doesn't need to be calibrated.

It is called "litmus paper" and is far easier and more reliable than a pH meter....and this is coming from a scientist who loves gadgets.

Thanks, Tim. I sometimes need a reminder that the simplest solution to an issue is usually the best answer! Keep It Simple Stupid:lol:

I have a cheap chinese ph meter that I bought through a friend a few years ago. It looks just like the one in the Bascom's catalog. It works good and has been reliable for the 10 years or so that I've been using it. The replacement batteries cost almost as much as the meter did.
