Attaching fire board to arch

About ready to insulate and brick my 2x3 arch. How should I attach the arch board to sides of the evaporator. The walls on my box are vertical and I have sheet metal on sides. TIA

I used 1/4-20 stainless steel hardware and stainless fender washers on the insulation side.

I use fireplace caulk or sealer that comes in a caulking tube. I then make spacers from 2 boards to push against the arch boards to hold it tight while it dries.

I learned that fitting the board a pressed fit to the opening and using fireplace caulk like Dave suggests works well, but make sure you clean the surface of both sides of the area from dust you are applying the caulk to. The Rutland cement I use suggests dampening the metal, board or brick. And I've found that it works better if I do that. I use air to blow dust off the board then dampen a rag and wipe off the area apply the cement and work quickly as it skins / dries fast. Jay

I'm in the same boat as Milton. I'm bricking my arch too, and will be buying refractory cement. Will that work for attaching the arch board to the wall of the evaporator, or do I need to buy something else (like that gasket cement stuff) too?

I don't think the refractory cement will work that well with metal. It's made to work with more porous surfaces.

i didn't use anything to attach my fireblanket to the arch. just put it in place, then bricked over it. the bricks held it up just fine.
