Anyone know of a good hose Clamp? I have a 1" plastic line to my sap house that I use to pump sap through with a camlock and barb end. The hose connection leaks. I'm using a standard worm gear clamp. Thanks!

I've used these before on other applications. They are tough as hell and work great, but a little bit pricier than standard hose clamps.

Not sure if you maybe tried this already.... But back in my water-well plumbing days, it was standard practice with poly pipe, to heat the end of the pipe up (inside and out) with a propane torch before quickly inserting the barb and tightening the clamps while its still warm and soft... Helps to knit the plastic into the barbs.

That works well, just be careful not to over heat it. I prefer using hot water, just insert the fitting's barb end then hold the whole thing in a container of hot water for 30 seconds or so, then tighten 2 band clamps while it's soft.

Thanks guys! All great ideas. I put it on dry/cold and clamped it. I'm afraid it will burst with the pressure. I will look into the clamps mentioned and use some hot water or heat gun.

Yep that would work... Not so handy, though, when you are in a muddy trench, hooking up a new well.... and the only hot water on site is in your thermos... :)

Those clamps work great and are the only ones that will keep 1.5" or 2" pipe together! For 1.25" and smaller the standard clamps are fine but the bigger pipes have so much wall thickness that they will walk the wire a lot when its cold and pull everything apart.

Bought 4 on Amazon. Price was worth the piece of mind.

I've had standard clamps fail because I've overtightened them. The hot water dip in the thermos is quick and you can see the clamp cinch on the hose.

My problem, though is with the ends of the clamps - the metal tabs/strips that come out when tightened. They stick out and are razor sharp and I'm constantly slicing my hands on them. I've thought of cutting them off, but I know it will make an even sharper edge or point. Then I thought of wrapping the clamp in electrical tape, but sooner or later that adhesive is going to make the area a mess and attract dirt and grime.

Any good fixes I'm missing?
