I decided to call it a season today. I'm still getting good sap, but my trees are slowing up and my lines are showing some gunk. I Had a few taps out January 4th, but I tapped my main woods January 23 rd. We're in a warm stretch then cold and back really warm by next week, so I wouldn't be boiling again until next week. Since I have already had my best season in 10 years, I decided it was enough. All my syrup came out really good flavor profile and even filtering was as smooth as I can remember. I finished with 19.75 gallons off 118 taps, but 40 of those were very early and only contributed a couple gallons of syrup. So approx. 17.5 gallons came off the remaining 78 taps for .224 gal per tap. That's ok for me, if I wanted to push it a little longer I could and get that up a bit. For all who are just getting started I hope it goes as well. My runs started out sporadic, but when the trees finally let lose it poured in. Good luck to everyone else.

I finished putting out my 55 taps yesterday. Didn't even bother collecting today, since the first run is just starting I guess Nova Scotia is a little behind Ohio.
