Just purchased a RO Bucket RB10 kit and was curious on the preferred installed mounting. Example: are you mounting it on a piece of scrap wood ( of your choice) or does it actually make it easier having it in a "bucket" ? I boil outside on a barrel stove which is 10' away from my storage IBC totes.

It is totally your choice. I keep mine in the bucket because it is easier to haul it inside and keep it from freezing (and I can wash/rinse it inside if it is too cold/dark, etc. outside after a long day/night of boiling). I know other folks mount the system on a board, and some others on a hand cart for even easier portability. You might consider keeping it in the bucket until you've had a little experience using it, and then get a better feel for what works best to your unique situation.

I mounted my home made one to a board... easier to find any leaks than from inside the bucket.

My RB20 kit is on a sheet of plywood, mounted to two vertical 2x4s that are bolted to a 4x4 attached to a furniture dolly. All the kit parts are at a perfect working height and I can roll it around. Can kind of get an idea from pics here. http://mapletrader.com/maplegallery/g678-2020-season.html

Ahh yes, I do like the idea of being able to find leaks if needed. Also the light switch is a great idea.

I always like to have things switched if possible; just a habit :) Since those pics were taken, I've added "smart" connectivity and I can now fire it up from anywhere using my phone; mostly so I can start concentrating while I'm at work and then my sap is ready to boil when I get home. I've got one more piece to wire into that; a smart relay to control the bypass to the low pressure switch. Then, I can just make a sequence called "startup" that closes the connection on that relay for a few minutes and when the unit is running at full steam, the relay will open then the low pressure switch can do its job.
