Evaporator door insulation. Board or bat? I have a Leader WSE 2 x 6 and I decided last year to insulate the door. Are used board insulation and it lasted through the year but barely. Wondering if bat insulation (blanket insulation 2300 degree) would be better? Yes I have a Leader WSE 2 x 6 and I decided last year to insulate the door. I covered my door insulation (blanket) with a piece of sheet stainless bolted to the door. It has lasted several seasons and seems like it should last quite a few more.

I welded nuts to the door, put a few layers of blanket, then put some grade 8 bolts through the blankets into the door nuts. Have run this way for 2 seasons with no problems of insulation coming lose or damaged.

Just a thought if it is only lasting one year and for the cost of ceramic. Why not but a bundle of mineral wool for $25-30 from a big box store, each bundle would insulate your doors for a couple years. And it is rated to 2000-2100 deg F.
