We tapped 12 trees today about 50 miles south of Chicago. The sap ran full from all taps suspect all pails will be full or over half way by Sunday.

I have been repairing lines, putting up new lines, making drops, clearing brush in anticipation of tapping around Feb. 15th. Wife and I take a trip to Florida to see a granddaughter during early February every year.I thought I would be maxed out at 100 taps but I will have around 150 this year and I still have more trees that could be tapped. Tally ho☺

Going to start running lines and tapping early this week. Looks like good weather this coming weekend for my area (Rockford). Bought a new smokey lake 2x4 divided pan for this year. Tired of batch boiling and dealing with the fire underneath when pouring off. Over the years I burnt my pan twice, overflow boiled, and dropped my pan full of sap in the fire. Hopefully no more of that nonsense.

Tree Tapper2, Smart move on your part. You'll be so much happier with that pan. Just imagine instead of the fire the sap got dumped into it was your leg, soo much safer now. Best of luck to you this year.

Finished tapping today. Around 130 taps, only 2 holes were wet. Still more things to do but let the fun begin

Finally got things rolling. It's funny how you forget all the things that need fixing or change from last year until you have to get going for the new season. Have about 200 gallons of sap. Shurflo pump is working it's little
heart out. Started boiling this evening.
