Hey all, getting ready to start building our new firebox with a Carlin 102crd, 2x6 Arch and will be reverse fired. Question are the firebox guidelines from Carlins book the same for reverse fired? From the book my firebox will 32" Deep X 16" High X 18" wide with the centerline of the burner 7.5" down from bottom of pan. Do these numbers sound correct. I'll be firing between 3.25-4.0 GPH. Thanks for any help!

I dont have a rig that is reverse fired or oil fired even but I would think that you would want the gun lower on a reverse fire so that your flame goes forward and then gets pulled up and backward towards your flu pan.

Hey Nate, that's kinda what I'm thinking. The only good pictures i've seen on here are of Dale Sparrows rig but i don't see any dimensions and he hasn't been on the trader for some time. I built a uni-strut frame so i can move the burner up or down easy. I'll post dimensions when I figure out what works best for my rig.

I have heard that the magic number is one foot below the pan for the gun position? I have nothing to back that up except for gut feel and it sounds about right.

Chris

Perfect! I'll start with that and we can go from there! Thanks

Firebox before the 1" ceramic blanket. Oil tank is mounted, fuel line run. Almost time for test fire.

Got the rig fired up Saturday night and all i can say is awesome! Dumped 30 gals of 30 something degree water in the pans and fired her off. Full rolling boil in 7 mins! I get exact dimensions of the firebox tonight.
