Tapping too early

Temps are going to be right for the next week or so in the cities. Is it to early to tap? Is it worth a try?

Too early. While the temps will flirt above freezing for the next week or more the long range shows back to very cold most of February. If you tap now you would most likely get some sap but probably very little. Your tap hole would have started to dry up before the real season starts and the trees really start running consistently.
