R.O. high pressure hose

What is a good 1/2" hose to use for the high pressure side of an r.o.? I see some using plastic reinforced water lines with hose barb fittings/hose clamps. I worry they would slip off the hose barb fittings under pressure. Would s.s. hose barb fittings with hose clamps have better grip on the hose than plastic barbs? I'll be using a procon 660 and it says up to 250 psi. The best hose I can find is rated for 200psi working pressure at 70.° however it does say the burst pressure is 4 times higher.

I used pex pipe with shark bite fittings on my old ro and it worked at 250 psi. It's not rated for that but it worked.

I would keep looking for appropriate rated hose. If an underrated hose burst and the RO be down for a day or 2 you would sure be sorry

Also all the fitting on the high pressure side of my RO are stainless.

I opted for an actual high pressure hose made at a local high pressure/hydraulic shop when I rebuilt my RO back when I bought it. It is a braided stainless casing with food grade nylon tubing inside of it, with threaded stainless fittings on both ends. However, my unit runs at a higher pressure than yours. But piece of mind is a nice thing too. Sometimes paying a little more for something better isn't a bad thing. A lesser hose, under any pressure, is both a potential leak and potential projectile.

I used the braided food grade hose from Amazon in 1/2" and 3/4" when I upgraded my Deer Run 125 gas pump to 1 1/2 hp electric, procon 330 and added a membrane. I used the Stainless npt-ins fittings from Amazon. It's hard to find good hose clamps these days. I went to three different hardware stores before I found the ones I like, the ones Lowes carries now aren't even stainless.

I run my RO up to 275 and have not had an issue with the hose. I did blow the bottom torque ring off one of the vessels wen my 2 1/2"x 10" filter cartridge imploded and sucked into the pump and membrane. It didn't hurt any of the hoses, stainless or schedule 80 PVC fittings. I upgraded my filter to a 4 1/2"x20". I usua;;y run 600 gallon of sap, but after the RO impleded, had to order a new pump, filter and membrane- the permeate tube broke off when the torque ring came off- I was down for a week, luckily we were froze up, when it thawed, I ran 1200 gallon through the 4 1/2"x20" and everything ran fine. The stainless fittings, tees, elbows from Amazon are of terribly poor quality, and require a LOT of the heavy duty stainless double thick teflon tape. It took me 3 or 4 runs to stop all the leaks. I swapped a few of them out with schedule 80 from Lowes.

Where did you get your 660 from? I'm goin to upgrade to that pump or a Goulds next year and add another 2 membranes.

Stainless rated by 200 psi, you can by different sizes. I always by an extra couple but have never need them. I got this tip from bricklayer

The hoses from plumbing supply work awesome. They have a true 1/2” diameter and there is no restriction in flow. Originally I just had one of these a 60” flex to feed my membrane. But I have since upgraded all my hoses on my RO to these stainless flex hoses. I probley got rid of 6 90 degree fittings in doing so. My flow increased a lot. And I have 0 leaks.

Thanks all, I think I will go the stainless route. bmbmkr I lucked out and found my pump on eBay. A large company was getting rid of extra inventory. Brand new I paid just under $200. Its nice to get lucky once in awhile!
