Does anyone have any input on the older cast iron filter press versus the newer cast aluminum press?
Should one steer clear of the old style?
Or is like a welded pan vs a lead free soldered pan?
Thanks

I've never had one but I'd say it would be fine. During the off season you may want to put some type of oil on it like vegtable oil just so that it doesn't surface rust and then just run it through the dish washer to get them clean again

I have used a cast iron press for at least 15 years and have never had a problem in the off season. I don't use any oils of any kind. I simply use the press and rinse it with just water and let it dry. I make sure that plates do not touch each other while they are drying.
