I have a couple questions about gast pumps. I'm looking at buying a 1550 for my small Bush. Specifically this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gast-Oil-less-Rotary-Vane-1550-P139-NIB/292499886224?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item441a5a1090:g:TIcAAOSwAQBauWN9

It looks like this one is configured as a "compressor" rather than a vacuum pump. After looking at the gast site it looks like the only difference I see is the vacuum pump comes with different filter and a muffler. Can they be used in either configuration?

Also, this pump is rated at 1440rpm. I would think that is just for 50hz motors. The bearing and rebuild kit is the same for every 1550. Would it be alright to just run it at 1725 rpms?

Thanks for any help.

Here's the link to the gast site with all the specs. Pages 29 and 30 are the 1550

Gast pumps are good. Not sure how many taps you are looking to hook up, might consider a 2567 , those are direct mounted to a 1-1.5hp motor, the one you are looking at looks belt driven? Also that pump looks to only pull 20" , I would go for something that will get you up to 25-28" of vacuum

Below pump is a much better deal and pulls 28 pounds and 16 cfm.

It's going to be on 200-300 taps Max. I was looking for a belt driven unit so I could run it off a gas motor. No electric at the site yet. After searching on here several people claim they are getting over 20hg with the 1550. Plus I like that it's oilless so I don't have to worry about that too.

Just as an update I ended up getting the pump in the ad. Good seller and came with a warranty... I'm very cautious about buying used things without being able to see them in person. Anyways, I put the pump on a 1.5hp electric motor I had in the shop just to try it out. It pulls a solid 25hg on a quality vacuum gauge. I dead headed the pump with the gauge, which gast said was perfectly safe to do I have no way to test cfm but according to gast it should be around 3cfm at full vacuum. I also called them and I was told the only difference from a compressor and a vacuum pump is the filter/muffler setup. Mine was sent out as a "compressor" but it's the same pump.

I've been sick the last couple days and was bored in the house so I set up the new releaser and the pump in the workshop. Here's a quick video.
