Anyone have a better trick or chemical that removes soot from the bottom of the pan better than easy off? Anyone pre coat their pans with something to make removal easier in the future for cleaning?

I bought some of this that someone on the forum recommended. It works pretty good at getting most of it off.

That’s a great idea. Never thought of it. I have 3 bottles of that I use for the woodstove glass. Never thought to try on the pan. No damage to the pan?

I precoat my pan with Dawn dishwashing detergent, the soot washes off with a garden hose.
Be careful you don't want any detergent in the pan so careful rinsing is a must.
This is a old boy scout trick for cleaning pans.

hey Rockfallsmaple Two questions for you, one, does it burn off, and two, how often do you need recoat the bottom of the pan or do you coat it just once?

I boil in batches that last a day, 10 to 14 hours and I clean the pan after each batch. It's dry when I remove the pan but washes off easily. I assume it would work for multiple batches but I've never tried it.

I use a wood shim to scrape the bottom.
