Does anybody know what the drum bung caps are made out of that are on Bascom's stainless steel barrels?

The barinox barrels have cast aluminum bungs I believe.

A few years ago I bought a 10 barrel lot of SS barrels, (different brand), they came with plastic bung and vent plugs. I asked why plastic and the answer was because they won't get cross threaded and damage the barrel threads, I then ordered a few extra plastic bung plugs, but have not needed to use any yet. I do replace the seals each year. I don't know if that is needed but my barrels seal every time.

I got the bright idea that I would use the drum to hold cider during the off season. Apparently the acidity corroded it and it fell inside. Luckily I was around when it sprung a leak and I was able to get most of it into buckets. I'm just concerned because the part of the lid was sitting in the remaining cider for sometime and wonder if there's any lead in it.
