Depends on how big the room is...bath room or ball room?

Very true, but 200k-300k means it had the potential to be larger then a bathroom.

I still have nightmares about the 5 gallon pail I tripped and fell with and spilled on the canning room floor over 20 years ago. Slow motion sloppy spill when I wake up. Usually happens when I don't get enough sleep during season.

I too have had spills but the biggest was under a quart. Comparing the size of the operations my qt may be more of my total than 6" deep on the floor at Bascoms.

Haven't heard about that one yet. Spillage is kind of an inside joke with my brother-in-law. I kid him that we spill more on the floor in a season that he makes. We just think of it as being akin to the Angel's Share  and Devil's Cut  in whisky making -- it's just going to happen at times. Yup...now you've got something to go look up :D

I haven't heard about that one yet either. I would suspect that they would try to save as much of it as they could though.

I haven't had any big syrup spills but have pumped the concentrate from 600 gallons of raw sap down the drain by mistake more than once. I have since redone the RO plumbing and procedure so that is less likely to happen again. The main thing has been to slow down and check to make sure that the concentrate and permeate are going where they're supposed to before walking away.

I heard a pump was left on for a few hours during a Christmas party. Then someone tried to wash it down the drain and made it worse.

Well a disaster like that isn't the kind of thing any producer would really want to admit to now, is it? So long as the damage was confined and it's not an environmentally hazardous material...
