I'm fabricating an arch this fall for a 2x4 pan. As of now the plan is to use 2x2x3/16 angle iron for the frame.

I know the goal is to expose as much of the bottom of the pan to direct flame. How much of the pan needs to sit on the frame for support?

Let me know if I need to explain what I am asking any further.

I've attached a rough illustration showing the dimension I'm asking for.

Thanks!

1/2 to 3/4 inch should be enough to support it.

Mine has about 1/4-3/8" support along each side. The greater the area open to the fire the better the boil.
