What is the most syrup you have done through flat/cone filters in a year?
We did 73 gallons syrup through flat filters. Had no issue at all as long as the syrup was filtered right off the evap nice and hot. I also had good kitchen volunteers to keep a steady stream of freshly rinsed filters at the ready.

We filtered and bottled 54 gallons in one afternoon this week using gravity filters. In our system the key is pre-filtering several times, with multiple pre-filters at each step. For example, I pre-filter the bucket of near-syrup I draw when I switch sides on the evaporator. I pre-filter the syrup when I draw off the evaporator, I pre-filter when I draw off the re-heating pan, and then do the final filter on the canner. Each step the syrup is nice and hot. With that system the final filtering goes dramatically faster than it used to.

Over 10 years ago I bought some tanks and barrels from a producer who was retiring from maple, who did 400-600 gal a year, all filtered on flat filters. He had a bunch of large filter pans on legs. I think they were 3'x3' or close to that. He likely had 6 or 8 of those set ups. He never used a filter press. I do not know if he used filter aid, but his syrup was nice and clear in the bottles I saw.

We do 80-100 gallons a year through 2 cone filters and several pre filters we make 5-10 gallons a day that go in the filter pot in 2-5 quart draws we have no issues.
We make roughly 20gal a season. We gravity filter through a felt cone filter with two Orlon prefillter. Filters are washed nightly. We have two of the felt ones that we alternate because they dont dry overnight. The orlon ones lasted the season although they were on their last legs for our last batch (if we were continuing I would have used new ones for the last batch).

We filter between 200-250, sometimes over 300 gallons per year through flat filters.Have two filter racks, one elevated about 4” above the other, holds two prefilters, catches pretty well all of the niter, then prefilter and felt underneath, syrup is crystal clear
