The front of my arch is in good shape, but the rusty appearance kinda bugs me. I'm wondering if anyone has a good way to darken it up and prevent corrosion that won't off gas a nasty smoke.

I'm thinking something along the lines of stove polish or paint. Maybe I could apply it after the season and let it get hot during the cleaning phase.

I'd love to hear what others have done.

Thanks!

I wire brushed some of the worst spots, then painted with a high temp engine paint (off season, of course).
Rustolium, I’m pretty sure.

Had to cure the paint so boiled some water.
After the paint was cured and the arch cooled, I added ceramic blanket to the back of the door.

Did that 5 years ago.
Still no rust.

Wire brush and black stove paint. Small fire with water in the pans to cure the paint after it dries. I painted the entire arch and stack this year. Gives it a fresh look.

Stove polish. You can put it on warm or cold and it doesn't smoke or burn off.

Made a couple of scratches on my new 2x4XL arch during the season. Bill Mason told me he uses Rustoleum "High Heat" BBQ Black, when he builds his arches.
