View Full Version : Semi Permanent Pan Thermometer..

Not sure how the big guys do it... but just throwing this out there, for the DIY guys... as it works pretty good for me.
I wanted to install a decent thermometer in my syrup pan, but also wanted the opportunity to re-calibrate or check it at-will...
I bought a long stemmed syrup dial thermometer, (about 8" long, I think) and thread it into an open ball valve on the pan....
If I want to check the calibration in a boiling water pot, I un-thread it, and quickly pull it out and close the valve... (tiny bit of spill).
PS - I take the handle off the valve once installed, so nobody accidentally damages the stem by trying to close the valve.
