Ron decided to make his new syrup filter contraption. Cut the bottom out of a bucket. Used one of my stainless canning pots, put that in another bucket. Put the bucket with bottom out and put that on top. Dowels across the top to hold the filter cone.

Photos? It's hard to visualize your configuration. How many vessels total.....3? How do dowels merge with the cone filter?

LOL I use ss oil filters from Princess Auto when I am filtering larger amounts of sap cause they hold more than regular-size canning funnels. Still have paper coffee filters clothespinned to them though, that's what the syrup actually goes through.

On Monday, the posts about using empty gas cans for gathering will be all over the Mapletrader.
Is it ok to use a septic truck as a sap hauler?

If it works, good for Ron. He saved a couple bucks and now can take you out to dinner.

I use a small, rectangular quilters frame to hang my cone filter. It hangs inside a bucket with most of the bottom cut out of it. Works quite well.
The bucket was originally made into an air canon. I just took out the elastics and diaphragm. Multi-purpose!
