Does anyone have a lead on some high temp. sealant or caulk for the base of my stack? We re did the flu with double wall chimney and the base does not fit tightly on the back of the evaporator.

I used JB Weld Red RTV High Temp sealant to seal around my stack. Seems to be holding up well.

Is it common for folks to seal around the bottom of the base stack? Does this improve the draft?

Hey Grandma:
I've found that what they use in wood stoves to seal the components together when they assemble them works good but once its baked it gets hard like sand stone and will crack so it needs to be re done once and a while if there is enough movement to crack / crumble it. I get Rutland stove and gasket cement from ACE.

I use that for sealing all around my arch and for cementing gaskets to the door etc. Jay

I also used what Zucker used. Works well.
