Anyone out there doing anything for noise reduction on old dairy vac pumps - (de laval 77). I'm thinking of building an insulated box for it, but then worried about the box getting too hot for good performance. Otherwise I considered trying to get my hands on a muffler I could install on the exhaust pipe, but not sure if that would cause performance problems either...

Bugger's just outside S.S and loud...

Thanks

Do you have an oil reclaimer on it? Those help muffle it some. I also have added a truck muffler to the exhaust pipe after the oil reclaimer when the noise was bothering neighbors. . Just go to auto parts store and get one that will fit the pipe and clamp it on. If doesn’t need to be a fancy one.

Right. Thanks. Got a reclaimer on it, but still loud... Yeah, neighbours don't love it... And doens't make for very fun boiling ambiance.

I'll try the truck muffler. I was thinking of trying something like this, but wasn't sure if it would create back pressure and reduce performance of the pump.

Thanks
