Just getting all my ducks in a row before season end. I was wondering if running 70% isopropal alcohol through 3/16 tubing and right through the surflo pump would cause any damage to the pump? I could disassemble and clean the pump after the rinse. Any thoughts? Or experience on this matter. I was told 20ml of 70% isopropal per tap would clean the lines and atomise into a vapor but I worry about residual sap and bacteria forming.

Dr. Tim published a study in 2011 that showed little difference in tubing cleaning methods in their ability to increase sap yields. They surveyed 81 producers who had an average of 4519 taps. You can read it here:http://www.uvm.edu/~pmrc/tubing_cleaning.pdf
I'd shoot an e-mail to Shurflow, but my guess will be you can go ahead. That, or skip the chemicals altogether. Getting the tubing dry helps a lot.
