My husband built me a homemade RO which worked great until I forgot to change the filter :)
Last night I was putting together a parts list for the future and noticed that there were many different brands of membranes on Amazon besides Dow. The husband chose Dow because he knew it was a good brand but are there any other good brands out there that might be slightly cheaper for when we need to replace them? We're using 3 of the 100 gpd membranes.

I've had really good luck with Axeon membranes from Fresh Water Systems down in South Carolina.

Hi i have an Axeon membrane HF5-4040 that i just removed from my RO system since i am building a new one. I noticed when i removed the membrane it had orange like rust over the outer covering. Can you tell me the process you use to clean your AXEON please? That would be great as it looks like you also use them.

I have loved Membrane Solutions over the past 6 years. Have used their 400 and 500 gpd membranes with great results.
I have used other brands and not had as much consistency in performance. Can buy them on amazon from their store:
https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/F52DD3B0-BCA3-4BE4-A8B2-02EFC4C75251?maas=maas_adg_F811B5F9D875168D72E7485 38864EC40_afap_abs&ref_=aa_maas&tag=maas
Also, your housings will accomodate 150 gpd membranes which will boost your performance for minimal cost.
