Thought I'd share a project.

My neighbour was cutting down a sugar maple for firewood.

Managed to save a section near the base and I'm building a table.

Seems like the tree started growing around 1875 and was tapped for a number of years around the 1930-1960 range.

It's an incredible piece. I tap trees too, and love seeing all the history.

That's cool! I'm going to make an epoxy river table with 2 live edge slabs of sugar maple. No tap holes though.
