We're on our 6th year now with the Deer Run electric 125. Still runs good, no problems. Original membranes are still in it, and we've cleaned it every season according to Ray's instructions. I HAVE noticed that it will clog a bit quicker and need more frequent and thorough cleaning. So, my question to those with the same (hopefully there's a few here!) setup is this: How long do the membranes last (given decent cleaning practices)?
Just looking for others experience and if they went with the same or a different membrane if the time to change came. I believe it has the DOW Filmtec NF270 in it.
take care, Mark

I am on my 7th season with one of Ray's 250 units. The membranes performed like new thru the end of last year. I have not yet tapped this year. Might do it in about 2 weeks. For me the forecast looks like just a tease until after March 10. I will be tapped before that. My membranes are also the Filmtec NF270. I also have a spare set the same, just in case. If I ever buy new membranes I'll look seriously at MES membranes, but that may be a long time off.

yeah, thanks for the reply and info. I guess i was looking for just that sort of info, and to get a feel for what is "normal" as far as others membrane life span.
I've looked at the MES ones too, but its not time yet. I DID wonder if the MES ones are just "plug and play" with my set up too, ie., pull the old one out, put the new one in, and go (without new or adaptor fittings, end caps, etc...).

Since the membrane just slides into the housing I doubt you would need any fittings. I would just go where the existing one is. Maybe a new seal may be in order but not absolutely necessary. I just like to have a spare "just in case".
