13 gallons plus a couple pounds of candy. My sugar content must be terrible. I boiled about 150 gallons of sap for 2 gallons of syrup last night. Ridiculous!

I only have 9 gallons done on 100 taps...Have only boiled 3 days though and really don't believe I have 1/3 of what I will end up with...Longest boil so far has been 4 hours...Saturday/Sunday the trees are just going to pee if the weather forecast is correct here...
17 gals A Med.......hope it runs this weekend.....

I'd kill for 1.9% at this point. Is it possible for it to go back up after a cold snap?
Chris
Almost 4 gallons on 76 taps. Boiled twice!!!!

140 gallons on 1060 +/- taps. boiled 6 times so far. worst day was 5 gallons of syrup, best day was 32 gallons made. Sap coming in to tank has been 1.5%. Sap coming into evaporator has been 8%. Mostly A-dark but some A-med. Good tasting stuff this year! I am glad we have had a couple days off, I am finally coming down off the sugar high. Can't say as I like too much, starting to have withdrawls.

45 to 46 gallons with most of it Medium A and some Dark A. I am in the 6th week of my season, so I only have about half of what I should have.

I have only tapped 40 tree's this year and have only made about 2 1/2 gallons of finished syrup.
Boiled only three times includeing today. I made 1 quart of A-dark today from 14 gallons of sap..
Hope to get alittle bit more before they bud out.
Next year I will tap about 100+ tree's.
Because if next season is as slow as this season, I will want more tapps.
I was hopeing for 5 gals of finished syrup or more from what I tapped this year and didnt get it. So Ill go with more taps. Id rather have more than less with what I want.

150 gallons so far- 10 Dk amber from the first boil, 65 Gals medium and the rest fancy. Sugar content started at 1.8% and went up to 2. I expect it might continue to climb a bit. So far so good- plenty of snow in the woods, its hardly melted away from the bases of the trees. I think we've got a lot more to go in this area!
40 gallons made so far from 525 taps. Got the best runs last week and have only boiled once this week. Sugar content running from 2-2.4%.
Tons and tons of sugar sand. What a pain to get it through flat filters!
Most has been running med., with some lt. and some dark A as well.

Our best season so far we made 56 gallons and our goal this year is for 70 gallons. 8O Looks like the sap should start flowing again this weekend.

Russ,
It looks like you will be well past your goal of 70 this year the way the weather has been up there! :D

Im up to 40 gallons now!! Last night I guess it never got below freezing so the trees ran ALL night, I boiled late yesterday so I didn't collect, well when I collected at 8 this morning ALL my buckets were overflowing... including all my 5 gal pails with just 1 tap in each.. ALL overflowing what a time that took to collect 250 gallons with 50 in the tank left from yesterdays boil.... now I too am starting to look at the wood pile, I have 5 pallets of cord wood left, about 2 cord. I might make it ...might not

Jim,
Don't worry about the wood because I wish I had that problem. I couldn't hardly get that much sap per tap in an entire week this year, much less in 12 hours.
Remember, last year it was the exact opposite for you and I, so enjoy it and if you run out of wood, then it will have been a great year! :D :D :D :D

I got 20 +/- gallons made some fancy, mostly light amber and dark for the last 3 weeks. Sugar content is running around 1.5-2.0, I just bought a sap hydrometer and I thought the thing was broken until I read what everyone else is getting. My buckets and pails were all over flowing too this morning.

Brandon, your right, I will say this year has been good, I figure I'll be close to 60 gals by end, close enough to the 75 I was hoping. next year should be better hopefully with the improvements, faster boiling, vacuum at the start of the season, and a working knowledge of the evap!!! this year is the learning year(ok for the next 20 years too)
50 gallons so far, and alot more to go I hope!!!

I am surprised that with 275 taps I am up to 73 gallons so far. Most of my runs had 3.0 to 3.5 brix on the sap! I guess that the sap gods have blessed my with some good trees. My goal was 75 gallons, but now I'm looking at maybe 100 gallons. Good luck to all!

Marty,
That's great news because with 275 taps this year, I only managed just over 50 gallons and that was cooking for 6 full weeks.
I am glad it is better up there than down here this year. One of the worst years I have ever seen, or should I say the worst.

I've talked with and visted 5 or 6 sugarmakers here in southern Maine , all report , its not going to be our best year ,but pretty good. Several have had more sap than they could process and gave it away. Many put out more taps then they can use , if it is a poor year, then with more taps they get an average year, BUT, when it runs , and runs good , everything is filled. And they give the overflow to the ''big guys'', which they gladly accept. Maine Maple Sunday tomorrow , after weeks of hard work , tomorrow i$ like pay day.$$$

I finished off everything that was left in the evaporator and everything that I was holding from the last two boils this past Mon & Tues and I ended up with almost 50 gallons to the ounce. Wasn't a very good year, but I am thankful for 50 gallons because for a while, it looked really bleak. Everything was Grade A and most of it being Medium and some borderline Light. I never Grade anything down here because most people don't know what Maple syrup is, much less a grade. I can usually tell by looking at it from seeing grading scales over the years. :)
Good luck to all and I am already getting ready for next year. :D :D :D :D
