Looking for opinions.

I'm thinking of re-using my spout adapters, though I know that there's a lot of dissuading research. Was thinking to give the whole lot a good (week or so long) soak in isopropyl alc, then run the lot through the dishwasher a few times in a mesh bag. One would think that the combo of alc and heat from washer should kill any bacteria growth???

We throw out so much plastic as it is with our syrup operation, and wouldn't mind saving the $600 in new adapters...

Anyone else doing this?

Thanks

no one is doing this that is mindful of research. recycle them and look for other options like zap bacs

even if it did work, I suspect that the heat will distort the lip to the adapter and you will either not get them seal or even insert.

The biggest issue is that plastic is porous, micro organisms get in the pores. That will never be touched by the ISO, but it will affect the tap hole, reducing your sap. If you do not want to throw away taps, use SS taps and then have at it cleaning them.
