So the taps I got this year recommend a 19/64 bit. I already have a really nice 5/16 tapping bit. Is it worth getting a 19/64 or will the one I got get me by?

I use 5/16 Sap-Meister spiles for my buckets and when I used a 5/16 drill bit I had some leaking from the taps so I switched to the 19/64 bit and it took care of the leaking. The 5/16 should work but you might have some leaking around the tap.

Noel, get the bit. I thought and did the same thing last year with some of my taps. On those laterals with the wrong size tap hole, I was never able to get good flow because I could not seal the vacuum. I used 3 different brands of taps last year and you could easily see the laterals that had those 19/64" taps/5/16"tap hole combination.

I'm trying the opposite this year. I have drilled all of my taps with a 19/64" bit to start then when I ream near the end of the season I will use my 5/16" bit.
